Where to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

It’s not too late to make your plans for Cinco de Mayo – and the weather forecast is looking D*MNGOOD®. Several area establishments are offering food and drink specials that shouldn’t be missed.

Ceiba: $5 margaritas and street-food dishes like tacos al pastor, Mexican-style fish ‘n’ chips and ceviche will be served at Jeff Tunk’s (Acadiana, DC Coast and TenPenh) Downtown Latin restaurant (2:30 PM-close).

El Centro: Chef-owner Richard Sandoval (Masa 14) will open his much-hyped 14th-Street taqueria on May 5, featuring unlimited aperitivos for $20 (5 PM-2 AM).

H Street Country Club: The party starts at 5 pm for hipsters on H Street, NE, with $3 coronas, $5 ritas and food specials offered throughout the evening.

Lima: Party with the pretty people at this Downtown restaurant/lounge, featuring $29 pitchers of frozen margaritas, happy hour drink specials before 7 PM, and $5 small plates.

Lupe: This Mexican cantina in the Golden Triangle will be celebrating with $12 buckets of Dox XX and $5 nachos.

Mio: This Downtown Latin restaurant will feature a special three-course, $38 prix fixe in addition to the regular menu.

Oyamel: José Andrés’ Penn Quarter cocina features a cocktail hour from 4-6:30 PM (at the bar only), offering $5 classic margaritas and select draft beer, 2 for $5 tacos and half-priced wines by the glass.

Perry’s: $5 pork and bean tacos – along with its usual eclectic fare and cool drinks – will be served at the rooftop bar of this Adams Morgan New American restaurant.

Policy: A party from 5 PM-1 AM will feature $3 Coronas, $5 margaritas and Negra Moldelos, and free soft tacos at this perenially-packed 14th Street restaurant.

Rosa Mexicano: This Penn Quarter hot spot will offer special dishes and margaritas, as well as festive decorations and music.

Tattoo: Get your salsa on at this Downtown nightclub, with $3 Coronas and margaritas from 8-10 PM.
