Chef/restaurateur Cathal Armstrong (Restaurant Eve, PX) is transforming a late-1800s, two-story house in Old Town into Virtue Feed & Grain, a massive Irish-inspired tavern slated to open May 26. According to Zagat.com, “diners will chow down on comfort fare such as steak and kidney pie, bangers and mash, housemade corned beef, and oysters on the half shell, all in an airy, rough-hewn space with a massive downstairs bar pouring some two dozen craft beers as well as signature “hoptails” (beer-based cocktails). Other design features include a huge American-themed mural on the staircase, antique glass panels fronting the bar and large sculpted wings hanging from the beams. Game fans should appreciate a room with pool, darts and vintage video games, plus big screens for watching this Irish-born enthusiast’s favorite sport, rugby (soccer, too, of course!). An outdoor deck overlooking the alley is planned for later this year.”
